Hip Baths are widely used in naturopathy for ailments in the abdominal system like the excretory system and the reproductive system. Based on the temperature of the water administered in the bathtub, the Hip Bath is classified as Cold Hip Bath, Hot Hip Bath and Neutral Hip Bath as part of our hydrotherapy treatment in Delhi and Gurgaon.
Water temperature: 20 degrees to 25 degrees Celsius,
Duration: One minute to 30 minutes depending on the ailment
The patient is made to sit inside the bathtub filled with cold water and is advised to massage/rub the abdomen from navel downwards across the body with rough wet cloth. The patient is also advised to warm the body after the cold bath with yogasanas.
Water temperature: Starts at 40 degrees C and is increased to 45 degrees C.
Duration: 8 to 10 minutes
Before entering the tub, the patient should drink one glass of cold water and a cold compress is be placed on the head. NO friction should be applied to the abdomen during the bath. A cold shower bath should be taken immediately after the bath.
In women, a hot hip bath relieves painful menstruation and neuralgia of the ovaries and the bladder. It also relaxes the excretory organs from painful urination, inflamed rectum or bladder and painful piles. Duration: 20 minutes to an hour
The neutral hip bath helps to relieve acute and sub-acute inflammatory of the bladder and uterus. It relieves neuralgia of the fallopian tubes or testicles and painful spasms of the vagina.
